Emergency Implications of Body Piercing/Modifications
It's happening more & more... Though body modification has been practiced for thousands of years, seemingly only recently has it become an "epidemic", especially among teens & young adults. This presentation will review "what we really want to know" regarding body modification & implications for emergency care. Through real-life case studies, answers to questions involving airway management, defibrillation, obstetrics, & thrombolytics will be addressed.
This will be a 2 day educational experience for EMS providers of every certification level and Emergency Department nurses. (Multiple ALS/BLS tracks, Educator Track, Critical Care Track, and Pediatrics)

This one-day, fast-paced emergency and critical care review seminar is for emergency and critical care nurses who provide urgent and emergent nursing care to pediatric patients and their families. This review program is designed to give the participant easy ways to remember important tips & tricks pertaining to pediatric emergency care. Any nurse or RT that wants to be more fully prepared for pediatric emergencies should attend this 1-day review program.
EMSC Webinar
On Monday, July 10 from 5:00–6:00 pm ET, the Emergency Medical Services for Children Innovation and Improvement Center (E-IIC) will host a free webinar to introduce a new EMSC QI Collaborative focused on implementing QI efforts to improve pediatric readiness in the emergency department setting.
Using a Train-the-Trainer model, twenty teams composed of training and affiliate sites will be guided to develop local QI efforts to foster pediatric ED readiness. The project timeline, planned activities, application process, and anticipated outcomes will be discussed.

Washington State Department of Health is teaming up with Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center to hold a virtual symposium on pediatric TBI from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Pacific Time Zone.
Indiana Emergency Medical Services for Children is hosting TEEX MGT-439, on March 27th and 28th, 2017. Training location is Indianapolis EMS Conference Room: 3976 Georgetown Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46254.
A 2010 report by the National Commission on Children and Disasters identified a training gap for emergency responders, first receivers, and emergency management personnel that reduced their effectiveness in responding to pediatric patients and their unique needs/considerations. This course addresses pediatric emergency planning and medical response considerations through a combination of lectures, small group exercises, and a tabletop exercise.
