Emergency Nurse Practitioner Certification (ENP-C)

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) does offer an opportunity for certification as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) through a portfolio process. This has created some debate as some very well educated and experienced advanced practice nurses have attempted this without success and unfortunately there is little to no feedback given by ANCC on how to improve your portfolio. More information can be found at the link below. I am also happy to share my experiences with this process with you if you would like to contact me.

The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) is announcing plans to initiate an Emergency Nurse Practitioner certification (ENP-C). To begin this process, AANPCP entered into an agreement with the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (AAENP) to develop a specialty certification examination for eligible nurse practitioners that will recognize their expertise in emergency care. The AANPCP (www.aanpcert.org) and AAENP (www.aaenp-natl.org) collaboration will provide a certification program that aligns with the APRN Consensus Model for specialty nursing practice and meets national accreditation standards. Details regarding the ENP-C launch date, eligibility criteria, and application process will be posted on the organizations’ websites when this information is available.
