This two-day training featuring national experts Russell Strand and Andrew Pari is one you won’t want to miss! All professionals who respond to victims and survivors of sexual violence are encouraged to attend; this training is open to counselors, advocates, law enforcement, SANEs and healthcare providers, campus administrators, and others interested in learning more about FETI and the Arousal Response Mechanism.

DAY 1 – TUESDAY MAY 22, 2018 — 8:00AM – 5:00PM (Registration will begin at 7:30AM)

“Facilitating Experiential Trauma Information – A Real Change in the Conversation”

Full-Day Training to Include:

  • Introduction to the neurobiology of trauma and memory
  • Hypotheticals to understand how to use a scientific approach to investigations
  • Collecting/Facilitating experiential trauma information (applying the science in the approach)

DAY 2 – WEDNESDAY MAY 23, 2018 — 9:00AM – 5:00PM (Registration will begin at 8:30AM)

“Arousal Response Mechanism in Sexual Abuse and Assault Survivors”

Full-Day Training to Include:

  • Understanding concept of arousal response mechanism
  • Explaining biological vs psychological roots of arousal response mechanism
  • Neutralizing myth and bias
  • Enhanced supportive interviewing skills
  • Application of Forensic Experiential Trauma Interview (FETI)
  • Eliciting evidence hidden by arousal
  • Enhancing elements of crime via arousal and related evidence
  • Overcoming credibility challenges
  • Documenting arousal as evidence
  • Testifying on arousal as non-probative
  • Specific case discussions from presenter’s work
  • Attendees are encouraged to bring specific cases for discussion

Registration closes at 6:00pm on Monday May 21, 2018. You may register for the Full Training ($40), Day 1 Only ($20), or Day 2 Only ($20). Lunch is not included. Any refund requests received after May 15, 2018 will not be honored.

Please note that this training is free for Indiana law enforcement officers and University of Indianapolis employees; in order to claim free tickets, these individuals MUST register with the professional email address given them by their agency or the university. Registrations made with non-affiliated email address will be cancelled and the individuals will be asked to re-register.
