October 10-11, 2017- ICADV's 35th Annual Fall Conference: Piecing it All Together; Bringing Equity and Intersectionality to Our Work

  • Indianapolis Marriott East 7202 East 21st Street Indianapolis, IN, 46219 United States (map)

The 2017 conference will feature keynote speaker Kelly Miller, national presenter on movement building to end gender violence, youth engagement, accessibility and intersectionality in our work, and Executive Director of the Idaho Coalition Against Domestic Violence. She is also a contributor and former cohort member with the Move to End Violence initiative. Kelly will kick off two days of discussion and learning all focused on broadening the reach of our work by holding equity at its center.

We will also welcome plenary speaker Dr. Nkiru Nnawulezi of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Dr. Nnawulezi is a nationally recognized researcher and speaker on improving formal systems and community responses to Black women who are surviving gender-based violence. Dr. Nnawulezi will discuss her research on microaggressions and how we, as professionals, address them within our staffs and within our client communities.

This year's agenda will feature 30 workshops over two days focusing on a diverse range of topics and skills. Social justice integration, primary prevention, medical and legal collaborations, working with immigrant survivors, and abuse in underserved and marginalized communities are just a few. The full agenda can be viewed  here.
