The ENA Forensics Committee exists to address the awareness and knowledge needs of Emergency Nurses across Indiana. The focus of the committee includes awareness related to training and education opportunities, and legislative issues. The committee serves emergency nurses across Indiana by being a hub of connectivity and collaboration with other organizations and agencies pertinent to medical legal issues, workplace violence prevention and care of patients who present for emergency care as victims of violence.

Forensic Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Course 2012

DATES:  Friday, January 13th through Friday, April 13th

  • There is no class Friday, March 30th
  • Each didactic class is 5 1/2 hours in length

  • Saturday Court date will be in March, date TBA

  • Clinical opportunities are discussed on the first day of class  (Bring your calendar)

TIMES:  Fridays 11am –4:30pm

  • Saturday, March 3rd  9 am – 2pm (Court date)

  • Clinical hours – opportunities discussed on the first day of class. Anticipate approx 4 hours/wk.

The template below is only for healthcare providers to use as a guideline to create their own institutional policy regarding HCP responsibilities. This is a template only and each institutions legal department will want their own spin on it.

Please fill out the Evidence Kit Tracker excel spread sheet if you have evidence you’ve collected from Sexual Assault patients that still remains in your institutions locked refrigerator. INCASA has agreed to help us if this is a problem for your SATC or ED in your institutions.

Once you have completed it please send to acarpenter@incasa.org. Anita is the executive director for INCASA and is a collaborating partner with the ENA forensic subcommittee and ICIAFN. She has agreed to help us with the uncollected evidence in our storage units.

 If this is not a problem you do not need to submit to Anita. This also gives us data on how many anonymous reporters SANEs are seeing as SA patients.
