Happy Nurses DayJust a note to wish all of you Happy Nurses Day 2007 and give a few accolades to two very special Emergency Nurses.
The Indy Star Salute to Nurses chose Kim White RN, MS Manger of Emergency Services as the nurse of the year. Kim received
honorable mention last year during the salute to nurses and was nominated for her excellent customer service in the
hospital. This year she was nominated for her excellent service to the community. She was nominated by Victoria Baker
of the Cummins Child Development center for the volunteer work she does in reviewing and recording immunization records
for children, offering training for 50 employee and also parent training on how to keep children well, the importance
of immunizations for children and safety for children. Kim says she was very surprised when she found that she won this
year. She says she was meant to be a nurse and highly encourages nursing as a great specialty for everyone. Congratulations
Kim from ENA! Sue Dunham RN, Clinical Manager Emergency Medicine and Trauma Center, Methodist Hospital Indianapolis
was given the Lifetime of compassion award from the Indy Star "Salute to Nurses". she was nominated by fellow
co-worker Deb Fabert RN who spoke of Sue as a mentor, who taught me skills, helped me develop my sixth sense and taught
me how to connect to my patients by truly caring about them. Sue was a founding member of the Indy Roadrunners Chapter
of ENA and has been a TNCC instructor for many years. Sue currently is an appointed member of the EMS commission for
the state of Indiana as a nurse liaison. She as traveled with the CART racing team for 19 years. Sue is passionate about
Emergency Nursing and has worked from the bottom upward in her many years at Methodist Hospital. Sue has worked in
many different roles in the Emergency Dept and is a testament to hard work and perseverance will get you where you want
to be. Congratulations Sue from ENA. Congratulations to Andrew Bowman RN, MSN, TNS, CTRN, CCRN-CMC, BC, CVN-I,
CEN, FACCN, NREMT-P Who just Graduated from Southern Indiana University with a Masters in Nursing. We should all wish
to have the string of letters after our names. It just goes to show that the more you study the more you think you need
to know. Thanks to all the Hardworking Emergency Nurses this Nurses Week 2007! Terrie Will, Indiana ENA
